Corporal Alexander A. MIKSCH (August Alexander, born 26 August 1839, in Gnadenhutten, Ohio). Alex was in Company C of the 189th Ohio Infantry.Photocopy of an image from the National Archives.
From the Center for Archival Collection's "NW Ohio in the Civil War": "This Regiment was organized at Toledo, Camp Chase, Cincinnati, Marietta, Hillsboro, and Dayton, Ohio from January 12 to March 6, 1865 to serve one year. On the 4th of March the Regiment was ordered to report to General Thomas at Nashville, where it arrived on the 9th. It was assigned to duty, under Brigadier General Van Cleve, and ordered to Murfreesboro, TN, where it remained two months, and was then ordered to Tullahoma. Here it remained two months, and was then ordered to Nashville, where it remained until September 28, 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders from the War Department."
I thought he was in Company A.

Alexander's Pension Records reflect service in BOTH Co. A 161, Ohio Volunteer Infantry (also transcribed on his Headstone) and Co. C 189th Regiment, Ohio Infantry.
