The Peter and Catherine PETRY family, in Gnadenhutten, Ohio.
Peter PETRY was born in Germany on 10 January 1826. He came to America around 1847, and married Catharine (Anna Catharine) KESSLER in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio on 20 December that same year. She was also from Germany, and had been born 14 June 1826. They had ten children, all of whom survived to adulthood.
These two photographs seem to have been taken at the same time, probably on the occasion of a family reunion. Someone has in the past written the names on this photo of Peter and Catharine's children:

Jake GUTENSOHN is towards the far left, standing at the back near the arbor; to his right is probably his daughter Mary (1879-1959), with Alice (1886-1982) in front of her, wearing the same checked dress as in the photo below. Catherine's brothers and sisters are fairly easy to pick out by comparing them to the photo at top; Catherine is towards the back right of the group, between her sister Sarah and her brother Jacob, who is holding a baby.It is likely that this photo of the Jacob GUTENSOHN family was taken on the same day, or very near:
