Curg and Lizzie Long, 50th anniversary

From an unnamed Kansas newspaper, around February 1945:

"Golden Anniversary. Open house will be held Sunday afternoon by Mr. and Mrs. (Curg) Long in the home of their daughter [sic] Mrs. Albert Harris [Albert was Lizzie's nephew], 721 N. 26th. The occasion will be in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, which is Tuesday.

A family dinner will be served at 12 o'clock after which Mr. and Mrs. Long will greet their friends between the hours of 2 and 4.

Mr. Long who celebrated his 84th birthday anniversary Jan. 20, was born in Adair, Ill. He came to Kansas with his parents when 10 years old. Mrs. Long is 77 years old. She was born on a farm near Kansas City.

They spent most of their life on a farm northeast of town but the last four years have lived with a daughter Mrs. W. A. Coonrod, Chanute.

Their other children are: Mrs. Alice Cooper, Parsons, Mrs. Martha Miksch, Alhambra, Cal., Charles Long, Los Angeles, and Fred Long, Fredonia."
