Vaudeville group, Grass Valley, Oregon, 1910

"H.S. Vaudiville Grass Valley Nov. 24 1910". Grass Valley is in Sherman Co., Oregon.

Back row, from left: Lester NAHOUSE (b.Dec. 1888), Louis MURDOCK (b.Feb. 1886), James LIUM (b.ca. 1887), Edwin VANLANDINGHAM (b.ca. 1886).

Middle row, from left: Vera WESTERFIELD (b.Sept. 1893), Veda WESTERFIELD (b.Sept. 1893), Iva VANLANDINGHAM (b.ca. 1894), Alvena WESTERFIELD (b. July 1891).

Front row, from left: Beatrice FRENCH (b.Jan. 1896), (Myrtle) Iva OLDS (b.Sept. 1896), Myrtle BARNETT (b.ca. 1890), and Mildred FRENCH (b.Nov. 1894).

Birth dates are from the 1900 and 1910 Federal censuses for Grass Valley.

According to the 1910 census, Lewis J. MURDOCK [sic] was a school principal; he and his sister Mary boarded with a family in Grass Valley.

The Westerfield girls were all sisters, and the Vanlandinghams were brother and sister. The French girls were apparently not sisters, but may have been cousins; there were a number of French families in Grass Valley at the time.

  1. Beatrice and Mildred French are cousins, the granddaughters of Ransom and Clarissa Heath French. Beatrice is the daughter of Leroy and Rosa Maricle French. Mildred is the daughter of Charles and Martha Clements French. Thanks for posting this.
