"There is probably no name more familiar to our readers than that of Mike Lane. He has been for years prominent in Barry affairs. He is one of those public spirited and enthusiastic citizens who give live [sic] to any movement they take hold of. Mr. Lane is a son of old Ireland and was born in Dublin in 1837. In 1859 he was married to Emily E. Barnard, and to them six children were born. Mr. Lane has resided in several different places since he first came here and at one time removed to Oregon. Up to a few years ago he was in the harness business, but now he is engaged in the undertaking business for which he is well adapted."

Michael "Mike" LANE (1837- ) married Emily Elizabeth BERNARD (1838- ), a daughter of William Smith BERNARD and sister of Sarah BERNARD, wife of Alexander Bell BURKE.
