Mary's photo album (1)

The photographs in these posts are from an album belonging to Mary Nelson FROBERG (1909-2003) of Carlton Co., Minn. They are mostly from the 1920s and 30s, and many are unidentified.

"Ev." Everett FROBERG (1910-1993), Mary's husband, probably in the 1930s.  Fishing, perhaps?

Conrad and Alma Froberg, 1910

Conrad Froberg and his wife Alma Larson Froberg, probably in 1910.

Conrad FROBERG was born 12 August 1880 in Stöde parish, Västernorrlands län (county), Sweden.  He came to America in 1884.

Alma Charlotte LARSON was born 12 August 1892 in Carlton, Minnesota.  She married Conrad Froberg 23 June 1910; this is probably their wedding photograph.

Conrad died 4 October 1931 in Duluth, and Alma died 24 July 1934 in Carlton.

"Ev's Mother," 1920s

Alma Charlotte LARSSON was born 12 August 1892 in Carlton, Minnesota.  She married Conrad FROBERG in 1910, and died 24 July 1934 in Carlton of cancer.  She had four children: Everett Froberg, Edna Froberg Stillwell, June Froberg Thomas, and Raymond Froberg, and a son who did not survive infancy.

"Holiday window showcases man's special craftsmanship"

An article from the "Milwaukee Journal" of 13 December 1984.

Nellie NELSON KLAPPROTH, the wife of Henry Herman KLAPPROTH and mother of the Henry in the article, was the daughter of Andrew NELSON (born Andreas Severin NIELSEN in 1872 in Vestervig parish, Thisted, Denmark), son of Niels CHRISTENSEN and Karen NIELSEN of Thisted.

Peter Petry family

The Peter and Catherine PETRY family, in Gnadenhutten, Ohio.

Peter PETRY was born in Germany on 10 January 1826. He came to America around 1847, and married Catharine (Anna Catharine) KESSLER in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio on 20 December that same year. She was also from Germany, and had been born 14 June 1826. They had ten children, all of whom survived to adulthood.

These two photographs seem to have been taken at the same time, probably on the occasion of a family reunion. Someone has in the past written the names on this photo of Peter and Catharine's children:

Peter and Catherine are seated.

Jake GUTENSOHN is towards the far left, standing at the back near the arbor; to his right is probably his daughter Mary (1879-1959), with Alice (1886-1982) in front of her, wearing the same checked dress as in the photo below. Catherine's brothers and sisters are fairly easy to pick out by comparing them to the photo at top; Catherine is towards the back right of the group, between her sister Sarah and her brother Jacob, who is holding a baby.

It is likely that this photo of the Jacob GUTENSOHN family was taken on the same day, or very near:

Edith Gutensohn with her school class

Edith Jessie GUTENSOHN, daughter of Jacob GUTENSOHN and his wife Catherine PETRY, was born in Ohio on 12 May 1891. She married Victor DRUMM in 1910, and died 21 March 1994 in Ohio.

This photo -- Edith is third from the right in the back row -- is probably her high school class, which would date it to around 1908. Edith grew up in Gnadenhutten, Ohio.

The Qvarnström and Larsson families come to America

The departure record for the August LARSSON family, on the ship Juno, leaving Göteberg, Sweden for Hull, England, and the United States, 3 July 1885.

August LARSON was born 25 April 1855 in Sweden. He married Anna Evelina QVARNSTRÖM 7 October 1876 in Venjan församling, Kopparbergs län (now Dalarna län); she had been born 24 September 1854 in Kopparbergs län. She died in 1921 and he in 1926, both in Minnesota.

Traveling with them to Thomson, Minnesota were their daughters Hilma Evelina (1877-1936), Anna Eleanora (1879-bef. 1900), Emma Christina (1881- bet.1921-24), and Frida Eugenia (1883- bet.1905-1926).
